Cultivating a Creative Practice

Since I began my daily meditation + painting practice, I’ve had these post-its around me.

To lessen the pressure of “doing things right,” perfectionism, and immediately think about making things into sellable products, it helped to focus on CURIOSITY.

What happens if I do this?
What if I show up every morning and do this?
How can I engage in PLAY with my creativity again?
WHAT is my creativity right now?

It’s clear my creative endeavors rarely stay stagnant. Likely the reason why I love working in Innovation — I never get bored!

But my goal right now isn’t to hustle and chase the unachievable. My goal right now is to create a sustainable, long-lasting life.

It’s been about 8 months of focusing on these thoughts - and what I love about post-its is - it’s time to archive them and create new post-its for the next phase!

I’m so, so, so happy with the artwork I’ve created with this practice, the pieces I created as sellable products, and nurturing my creative business with my supporters! All while making sure I lead a balanced, healthy, slow sustainable growth day-to-day — allowing for rest, off-days, hustle days, time with fams, and LOTS of creative + entrepreneur exploration.

For me, this is a “rich” life. The freedom to create, generate income, and live the way I want. And to eat delicious food, ofc!

Next:

  • Taking the learnings of my first print launch, expanding to wholesale and retail in Portland

  • Selling x1-2 local makers markets

  • Expanding to a couple new designs in the shop; replicate and test success a la first print launch system — SCALING! WHAT!

  • Create a pipeline for selling framed originals! 😍
